What is "Current at the Castle?"


Spring Sports Tryouts start 3/21/22. The sports include Girls Soccer, Softball, Boys Track and Baseball. Please make sure you have your proper paperwork and your grades are good.

Boys Basketball & Wrestling Tryouts- (1/18-1/21)
They started last week and officially ended on Friday. Sorry about the late information being posted. Wrestling is still taking team members for a few more days to round out their team.
Schedules for both will be listed on the school webpage as well as @ripponathletics.

Girls Basketball Tryout Information

-Tryouts are on 11/3, 11/5 and 11/8. You must have your proper paperwork filled out as well as done your QR COVID screener for the day. Tryouts begin in the Aux Gym where we handle paperwork and then will run every day from 315-515pm. Please have your transportation arranged.

-No Paperwork or incomplete paperwork means you cannot come to tryouts that day.

The check in is done via a microsoft form link or a QR code. They are posted all over school, the teachers should be posting them on their canvas pages as announcements and MUST be done each and every day from 800am-245pm. If your student does not do the screening they cannot come to tryouts.

Attention Student-Athletes!

If you are coming to tryouts, you must have all your paperwork filled out properly. If you do not have your paperwork or it's not filled out properly you cannot stay. You will have to call and get a ride home and come back the next day.
AND REMEMBER- Tryouts are closed to the general public. Have rides available at 530pm or ride the activity bus home

Fall Sports Tryouts start on August 25th, 2021

If you are interested in trying out for football, boys soccer, girls track, girls volleyball, or cheerleading you need to have the following filled out and ready to roll before tryouts:

1. 2021-2022 Middle School Physical Form (see below)

2. All Concussion Training will be conducted by clicking the link below:

After you and your parent/guardian complete the concussion training, print out your certificate and clip it to your physical. You can bring your physical to the main office or to Mr. Pelkey. Try to get this taken care of before tryouts on the 25th.

Guidelines for Academic Eligibility:

Middle School students who wish to try out for any athletic team must meet the county guidelines for academic eligibility.

  • All grade six students are eligible for Season 1 tryouts.
  • All 7th & 8th-grade students must meet the county’s academic eligibility standards for Season 1 tryouts based on their 4th quarter grades for the 2020-21 school year.
  • All grade levels must meet county requirements to be eligible for tryouts for seasons 2, 3 & 4.
  • Coaches will be working with teachers to make sure your student-athlete stays on track academically this year. We are all in this together.


  • To be considered as current, Athletic Physicals must be dated May 1 of the current school year to June 30 of the succeeding year.
  • 2021-22 REQUIRED Athletic Physical Forms are available in our middle school office and can be downloaded from the PWCS website.
  • Concussion Training- MANDATORY
  • Make sure you click the above link for concussion training. As of August 2021, all concussion training can be done online.
